Born Again, Being Saved and the 10 Commandments

Recently I read a comment by a woman who considers herself "born again", in which she stared how hard it is to live with a spouse who isn't "saved".  This got me thinking.  What makes you "born again" is it getting baptized again?

Why do the "born again" consider themselves truer and more devoted than those who never faltered, the "always was" Christians? They preach their interpretation of the bible, a version that fits them better than the original. Not all, but a large portion of them argue that Catholics are not Christians. They also hate openly in the name of religion. They hate anyone who isn't like them. They hate other religions, the LGBT community, other nationalities, yet they swear, smoke, drink, take drugs, have affairs - while openly criticizing everyone else.

One such woman commented on a religious video, how she has tried for years to save her husband and hasn't been successful so far. This woman thanks God for giving her and her husband the chance to make their relationship right and keep them together after years of turmoil, yet she openly disrespects him for not being "born again: or as devoted to their religion as she is.

This got me thinking about being saved or born again. If you're in need of saving you must have broken at least one of the commandments. So I decided to double check the Ten Commandments and see what would qualify someone to need saving.

    1.   You can't have any other God
    2.   You can't make or idolize an image of anything in heaven, on earth, or in the waters. If you       do, God will punish you and your children for 4 generations. But if you obey this commandment,     God will love your family for 1,000 generations.
    3. Don't use God's name in vain.
    4. Keep the Sabbath holy
    5. Honour your father and mother
    6. Don't murder
    7. Don't commit adultery
    8. Don't steal
    9. Don't be a false witness against anyone
    10. Do not covet anything that belongs to others

Clearly, even if someone isn't breaking any of these rules but doesn't go to church and doesn't push religion down everyone's throat, some religious zealots would consider this person in need of saving.

Rear End Accident

Today (December 29) our car was rear-ended while we were waiting to make a left turn in a parking lot. We were stopped foe quite some time waiting for a lady in a blue pick-up to make a u-turn when suddenly we were hit.

My neck snapped back and the clip that was holding my hair in the middle of my head, hit the seat and added to the impact on my head.  My back and hips hurt but I undid my seat bely and jumped out as quickly as I could before my back could seize-up.  I was holding the back of my head trying to feel for a bump, cut, blood ... whatever might be there.  Feeling sore, I sat back down in my seat.  A woman came and checked the back of my head for blood.

Meanwhile, the woman who was driving sat in her vehicle and a small boy of 10 or 11 came out, told me everything is ok and they were leaving.  By the time the police, firemen and ambulance arrived, I was more concerned with the little boy dealing with this.  I was also concerned for his mother who told me she is a widow with 5 kids.  I felt so bad for them and told them I'm going to the hospital as a precaution because of my degenerative disc .

Anyhow, I was immobilized and strapped down to a very hard, bumpy board.  That's where I was going to stay for the next two or more hours.  At the hospital, I was x-rayed, given a prescription for pain reliever with anti-inflamattory properties, told to use cold compresses for the next few days and get lots of rest.

While at the hospital, I found out the other driver does indeed have a husband who came to the scene and offered my husband cash (which he declined).  Also found out the woman only has a G1 and isn't supposed to drive without a licensed driver in the vehicle.

Our car has damage and there will be a 300 dollar ambulance bill but if we go through our insurance, they will go after the woman's insurance company who in turn will cancel her policy and make it impossible for her to ever get insurance.  I feel very bad for this woman even though she lied repeatedly at the scene.

Update:
Because the driver who rear ended our car only has a G1 and wasn't accompanied by a fully licensed driver, we decided it would be in her best interest to have her pay for the damage on her own rather than put in a claim through the insurance.  My hubby spoke to her through an interpreter, explained that we don't want her life screwed up over this and told her how much it would cost for repairs through the authorized dealership.   She told my husband that she wants him  to take her   to a garage that belongs to a friend of hers and get an estimate there ....

To recap:  She begged, cried, gave a sob story and offered cash at the scene if we don't call the police.  Unfortunately, I was injured and it was necessary to call for an ambulance and the police that showed up were not happy with the numerous lies she gave them.

Anyhow, yesterday we went and gave the information to our insurance company and decided this is the best way to go.  It's a shame you can't be nice to people without getting taken advantage of.

We took our grandson to see the beautiful light display at the park in Amherstburg, as well as the gingerbread house.  These are the pictures from that trip.

Centro Restaurant

We're going to Centro Restaurant, Caffe and Bar for dinner. I peeked at their website and as usual I looked through the entire menu. I cannot wait to get in there and sink my teeth into all the goodness they have to offer. I'm not sure how much I think I can eat but it better be enough to include Nutella pizza as well as dessert.

I guess I should thank whoever manages their Twitter account (@CentroWindsor) for following me (@Homeflower)and bringing their establishment to my attention.
Thanks dude or dudette for the follow.

I will update this entry to include pictures of my selections and a brief critique.
Did I give Centro Restaurant a "Rave" or a "Wave Bye Bye" review?
Hmmm, read on and see.

Our appetizers and meal

Tuffo
Spinach, artichoke and four cheese dip with cream cheese, provolone, fontina, mozzarella; served with pizza "fritter"

Cozze
Steamed mussels in a white wine fresh tomato sauce with chili pressed olive oil

Panini
Served with spiced eggplants, peppers, onions and garlic baked in a wood burning oven and topped with fontina cheese.

My Husband ordered it with chicken and I ordered the "Verdure alla Griglia" (the vegetarian version)

This fabulous meal was followed by a terrific dessert of Nutella Cheese Cake.... Yummmm!

So I give this two year old restaurant a total Homeflower style "Rave".

The only thing I did not like about Centro is their website. It's beautiful to look at but you can't zoom in to read the content so in this regard it isn't wonderful. For myself and others like me who rely on the zoom function to properly see content, flash sites are a thumbs down. It's not a big deal but it is a hinderance.
